This week sees Volume: Birmingham’s Art, Book and Print Fair take place at the Library of Birmingham between 5-7 December. Curated by Capsule, and part of the library’s Discovery Season, the event will see panel discussions and workshops on topics which affect the independent publishing, bookmaking and writing industries.
Bringing together lots of international and home-grown organisations such as Writing West Midlands, Birmingham Zine Festival, Grand Union and Eastside Projects, panel discussions will cover subjects such as digital technology and how it will enhance publishing and writing, copyright, libraries of the future and the publishing economy.
There will also be lots of workshops – roller printing, make a zine in a day, writing for digital outlets, letter pressing and reduction lino printing.
On Friday and Saturday there will be a fair which will showcase the very best books, prints and artworks for sale from an international selection of independent publishers, printworks, artists and organisations.
