Highlighting under the radar arts and culture in Birmingham, UK

Silent Night

Following the huge success of Flatpack Festival’s opening night earlier this year, they return to Birmingham Cathedral for another special evening of silent film and live music on Friday 14 December from 7pm. The event is presented in partnership with Colmore BID, as part of the Film Bug programme. Film Bug will return to the city centre in March 2013 during Flatpack (21-31 March 2013).

The feature is The Cameraman, (1928). Buster Keaton’s final silent feature,  a daft romantic comedy about a young man who takes a job filming for MGM just to get near a girl, and includes plenty of the  jaw-dropping sight gags you’d expect from Keaton.

To warm up there will be a couple of classic shorts, including Thomas Edison’s 1910 version of A Christmas Carol, and presiding over the grand piano will be Paul Shallcross. Festive refreshments are included in the ticket price of a fiver!

Only £5. More information and advance tickets can be bought here.

That looks like an excellent night out, and something different from the normal Christmas commercialism :-)
