Important Artefacts is the title of the last ARC show of 2010 and curated by Anneka French. The exhibition at The Vaults will take place on Wednesday 24 November from 6-8pm. Six artists have been invited to exhibit pieces including painting, works on paper, installation, live work, projection and text.
‘The show will draw on the history of the site as a place for keeping objects of value. It seeks to address the idea of collecting as a process of investigation or accumulation, the idea of collections as things to display, and of the collector as someone driven by a particular passion. How objects are chosen, ordered and presented, and how these decisions are marked by emotional, aesthetic and conceptual judgements are central to this exhibition.’
There will be an opportunity for visitors to bring along their own collections of things to share with other people. There will also be a small publication about the show, and a CD of music gathered together from the participants of this exhibition, as well as previous ARC shows.
To celebrate the last show of the year there will be a small party following the show at 8pm including various DJs.
