Highlighting under the radar arts and culture in Birmingham, UK

Live From the Fire Room – Open Sound Workshop

Since the end of June Graham Dunning has been the artist in residence at the Rea Garden. He has been doing all manner of experimental bits and bobs where apparently a record pressing plant was once situated. On Friday 20 and Saturday 21 August Dunning will be leading Open Sound Group, a collaborative workshop and networking event for artists working in sound and experimental musicians.

On the Friday participants will collect sounds, explore the Rea Garden and talk about the current residency. The next day there will be a workshop in Lombard Method’s project space, The Fire Room. The session will be informal with no defined outcome but will be documented with the option of collating some recordings for release. Participants are invited to bring their own instruments, equipment, field recordings etc. The workshop is open to any artists working with sound and improvising experimental musicians based near (or with connections to) Birmingham.
For more information and to book a place see the Lombard Method site.
