Highlighting under the radar arts and culture in Birmingham, UK

Tula + Timothy Parkes

On 15 April Colour presents another must see gig at the Victoria. Tula crafts ‘rustic and grainy folk-inspired songs that are deeply evocative of the wilderness of her home nation’ of Sweden. I love the fact that in the old Swedish language ‘tula’ means to wander far into the forest – beautiful. Tula has only release a 7″ single on Midlands label Static Caravan but a beautiful one for sure. As Colour say, Tula is ‘sure to appeal to anyone who has been taken by the work of Alela Diane, Laura Marling or Elliott Smith’. Tula performed in session for Marc Riley on 6Music on 8 April. You can listen to it here.

Supporting will be Timothy Parkes, intricate, powerful guitar loveliness. Championed by Miles Hunt of The Wonder Stuff, he has recently contributed to Hunt’s Shared project, showcasing emerging acoustic talent.

The night also features the usual DJ sets by Colour featuring left-field folk, indie and Americana . Doors open at 7.30pm and costs £5.00.
