Highlighting under the radar arts and culture in Birmingham, UK

Record Store Day 2010

Saturday 17 April celebrates Record Store Day, an international celebration of the independent record shop. I felt it particularly poignant and important to highlight the day as Tempest Records is closing and Swordfish is up for let. Record Store Day festivities are bigger in the US and include performances, cook-outs, body painting, and meet & greets with artists. There are a number of exclusive limited edition vinyl and cd releases to celebrate the day in the UK which can be found here. They include those by Pavement, The Rolling Stones, Beach House, Charlotte Gainsbourg, Deerhoof, Neu!, Hot Chip and many many many more.

Shops participating in Birmingham include Polar Bear (thank you guys for reminding me that the day was coming up!) and Hard to Find Records. Support your local independent record shop. You don’t know what you’ve got til it’s gone…
