Highlighting under the radar arts and culture in Birmingham, UK

Home of Metal

Cities have been celebrating their musical heritage for years: Liverpool has the Beatles, Manchester has Factory Records, Coventry has Two-Tone. It is only recently that Birmingham and the Black Country have begun to properly celebrate their importance as the birthplace of heavy metal.

Capsule, purveyors of quality gigs in Birmingham started the Home of Metal archive a few years ago with a symposium and events to collect fans memories, photographs and memorabilia. From this research, the Home of Metal archive has been launched and can be found here. It is a website full of passion and love for heavy metal. The website is still accepting contributions, so if you have any tales please let them know!
