I can’t believe the fact that Welsh folkies 9Bach are coming to Birmingham nearly slipped me by. I first saw them on Gruff Rhys’ Candylion tour at the Glee Club. I was whisked away into another time by the hauntingly dark tales the songs revealed (as the singer would describe them in English to the audience – unfortunately I don’t speak Welsh…yet)

9Bach’s haunting songs are exquisitely sung in Jen’s native tongue, and the instruments used result in a melange of Portishead, Cocteau Twins, and Lorca – era Tim Buckley’ ~ Mick Houghton, Uncut.

Supporting are brummie bluesmen The Rivers Presley Set, Cesilia Trecaquista and Robot7.

9Bach play the Sunflower Lounge on Sunday 7 March. Doors open at 7pm and the whole night costs £1!?
