Highlighting under the radar arts and culture in Birmingham, UK

Colour my world

World of Fox On Thursday 15th October Colour return with the first in a series of what promise to be beautiful, beautiful nights. They will be officially launching Simon Fox‘s new album, Everything Is For The Best on the Kings Heath based Commercially Inviable records. Support will be from label mates James Summerfield, Friends of the Stars & Richard Burke.

Simon Fox is former leader of Birmingham’s  post-rock pioneers, Grover. Between 1993 and 2003, Grover released a host of albums, as well as broadcasts on Radio1 (including a Peel Session). Now working solo as World of Fox, Simon has crafted an intimate, captivating album rich in atmosphere and full of beguiling lyrics. Expect a night of luminous, contemporary takes on folk tradition.

I am also looking forward to Richard Burke, former lead in legendary local band The Starries. I saw him play for the first time in years at Moseley Folk Festival and is well worth seeing for his lovely sensitive songs.

Colour DJs will be playing some of the best leftfield folk, indie and Americana during the night. And to top it all off, there will be  homemade cakes!

The night starts at 8pm at The Victoria on John Bright Street. Tickets cost £5. You can find out more information on all the bands  here.
