Birmingham Comedy Festival 2009

Birmingham Comedy Festival returns this year from 2nd- 11th October. Acts performing in venues across the city include David O’Doherty, Josie Long, Rich Hall, Rob Brydon and John Cooper Clarke. The festival is also celebrating the 40th anniversary of Monty Python with screenings of Monty Python and the Holy Grail and Monty Python’s Life of Brian at the Electric Cinema. Neil Innes, of Bonzo Dog Doo-Dah Band and The Rutles fame will also be appearing.

Local talent will be involved including Lee Dempsey, Sheila M and Andy Robinson. Events include a comedy pub quiz at the Victoria on October 6th and bizarrely a collaboration between Duran Duran bassist John Taylor and Mexican artist Laureana Toledo at Eastside Projects as part of the Abstract Cabinets Show.

    If you’ve missed Josie Long, you can see her good friend Holly Walsh on Monday 5th October, 8.30pm at the Popcorn Comedy night at the Electric, along with Doc Brown and a load of great comedy videos unearthed from the internet.
