On Wednesday 30th September join Lisa Knapp and Leafcutter John for a performance at the Flapper and Firkin. The two musicians have been brought together for a collaboration, creating new music inspired by the rich history and culture of the Grand Union Canal.

Following its world premiere inside the London Canal Museum, the 1930s the narrow boat, The Chiswick, will be wending its way up the Grand Union to Birmingham, stopping on its way for performances at various places along the way.

Lisa Knapp has been a Mojo Folk Album of the Year winner and is a spellbinding singer & fiddle player. She merges traditional tunes with self-penned songs, and blends fiddle with sonic delights from the technological age. ‘Knapp sounds like a young Maddy Prior with the girlish inflection of Bjork‘ ~ Uncut

Leafcutter John, a member of Polar Bear, combines guitar and voice with more experimental electronic forms. Folktronica heaven. ‘Like Leonard Cohen is having a cup of tea with Warp Records in a truck stop outside of Denver’ ~The Stool Pigeon

At the Flapper, audiences will watch the performance against the backdrop of Farmer’s Bridge, for 50 years the busiest flight of locks on the system, which worked 24/7.

Tickets are £10 and can be bought here. Find out more about the tour here.
