Highlighting under the radar arts and culture in Birmingham, UK

Conveyor – Handle with Care

Will CliffordHandle with Care is a solo exhibition by Jerwood Sculpture Prize nominee Will Clifford. This one night exhibition takes place from 4-8pm tomorrow at Conveyor, a new artist run initiative in Birmingham.

After researching the  building’s history and context, Clifford has created a new site-specific interactive sculpture. He seeks to address the ways in which we map and classify the space around us, by constructing and de-constructing a house of cards style structure during the four hour exhibition along with co-founder of Conveyor, Harminder Singh Judge. Audience members will be able to participate and aid the construction of the form alongside Clifford, as well as take a piece with them when they leave (adorned with a Will Clifford playing card), continuing the interaction between the object and space and the audience.

The work will address not only the history of the gallery, but also the legacy of Birmingham’s past as an industrial city.

Conveyor‘s address is 346 Moseley Road, Balsall Heath, B12 9AZ and can be found on the number 50 bus route.
