Highlighting under the radar arts and culture in Birmingham, UK

Birmingham Publications

areaWhilst browsing amongst the vintage wonders of the General Stores at the Custard Factory the other day I came across Area Magazine. I knew that the people behind Fused Magazine were brewing up something special but I hadn’t heard anything about it for a while.

The new pocket-sized magazine is a guide to the cultural happenings in the West Midlands. The current July/August issue focuses largely on Birmingham but will also feature Coventry, Wolverhampton and Walsall.

If you’d like to get your mitts on one, you can find them  at the Central Library, the Rotunda Tourist Information Centre, Cow Vintage and Urban Outfitters amongst others. You you can also view the current issue here.Dwink Dwonk by Bjørn Mortensen

Another great local publication is An Endless Supply. This is a monthly, black and white, print-to-order, A4 booklet featuring submissions from artists, illustrators, photographers, writers, you name it! It also has a mean arts listings page. They are always looking for submissions so please get in contact.

Issue 3 will be available hot off the press at the afternoon opening of One Dimensional Man at International Project Space in Bournville today from 3-5pm. It will also be available from Birmingham galleries such as Eastside Projects, Ikon and Ikon Eastside in the next few days.
