Highlighting under the radar arts and culture in Birmingham, UK

There are now just over two weeks until Supersonic! Up until this year I had neglected the festival, prefering to go to far away places and muddy fields. However, the line up this year is superb, and with its interesting programmes of  talks, films and demostrations, I have been won over!

I am particularly looking forward to Venetian Snares, Zu, Caribou, Monotonix and The Memory Band’s unique take on the Wicker Man soundtrack. But more on those later…

Friday:  Army Of Flying Robots / Atomized / Drum Eyes / Kylie Minoise / PCM / Scorn / Taint / Venetian Snares

Saturday: Bobby Previte / Corrupted / Diaganol / Flower/Corsano Duo / Growing / Iron Lung / Kim Hiorthoy / Light Trap / Marnie Stern / Master Musicians Of Bukkake / Monotonix / Nisenenmondai / Remember Remember / Rose Kemp / Skullflower / Tartufi / The Accused / Thought Forms / Thorr’s Hammer / Tweak Bird / Zu

Sunday: 65 Days Of Static / Arbouretum / Caribou / Chris Herbert / Earthless / Goblin / Head Of David / Jarboe / Khyam Allami  / Nancy Wallace / Pontiak / Pram / Pre / Theo / The Memory Band / ZzZ

Brumcast have made two special Supersonic podcasts which you can listen to here. I have been listening to them on loop today and have already discovered some more bands that I’d like to see. In particular Rose Kemp, daughter of Maddy Prior and Rick Kemp from the mighty Steeleye Span. Little Chris sounds a lot like a brummie John Peel :-) R.I.P John.

Tickets are availiable from The TicketSellers, Swordfish and Polar Bear.
